The St. Mary's Island Youth Club
St Mary’s Island Youth Club, “The Island Castaways”, is up and running again and we currently enjoy between 40 and 50 Members attending the Club most Friday nights at the Island Community Centre between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m.
Any child in Year 6 at SMI School is welcome to join as is any child who was a Year 6 pupil at the School last year and may have missed out due to the Club being closed.
If you would like to try a taster evening, just come along on one of the dates shown on the schedules of opening dates below or call David Taylor on 893447 for more information. You will be very welcome.
Youth Club Opening Dates 2016-2017
The club opened in May 2008 and is affiliated to Kent Youth. It offers cricket, football, table tennis, pool, snooker, Wii and I.T. activities as well as a craft table and tuck shop.
Other activities include discos, theme nights, sports and dancing sessions with professional trainers.
Just come along and see what's on offer. Parental Consent forms are required after the first attendance. The Club is run by a small number of CRB checked volunteers of all ages but more are required in order to provide and maintain a safe and orderly environment.
Existing members will be returning and at this time of the year we welcome all children from Year 6 of St. Mary's Island School.
However, any child living on St Mary's Island between the ages of 10 and 14 years is also welcome to join whether they attend the SMI School or not. We regularly have over 40 children in attendance and membership costs £1 per evening
If you would like to give something back to the community, please call David Taylor on 893447 or just come along and take a look at what we are doing for our Island youngsters. They love it!!
